Open Letter to so called "Rabbi" Yakov Horowitz Part 1

Why in the world would anyone feel any need to explain to YOU ?

Is Yakov Horowitz Misanthropic?

It's really bizarre how Yakov Horowitz openly bash true Talmidei Chachomim. Have you spoken with these Gedolim, or are you just basing your thoughts on hearsay and theories?

One would think that an individual who makes such drastic remarks against the leaders of our generation and previous generations would have conversed with some of them, but you clearly don't feel the need to do that.

it is, however, quite appalling to read through your posts which rip through Gedolim.

Did you speak with Harav Yisroel Belsky? Did you speak with Harav Malkiel Kotler? Or do you just assume you know better?

Gedoloim are Gedolim for a reason. Remember that!

The truth is these statements do nothing but add fuel to the hate and is sinas Chinom in disguise.
"Rabbi" Yaakov Horowitz of who doesn't miss an opportunity to bash Haredim, running to the media publicizing any wrong doing to the world  claims he follows the Gedolim.

Yet he continues to pander to the left and Modern Orthodox portraying himself as the Charedi Rabbi with a shtreimel who is courageous and willing to stand up against his own, and  has proven once again why he would make a good candidate for Yesh Atid party along with Yair lapid and Dov Lipman.

While the Gedolim  and Moetzes of Agudah have called on Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks to apologize for his remarks about Charedim.  Rabbi yaakov Horowitz only heaped praise, tweeting a link to that very speech.

You would think Yakov Horowitz would be disgusted by the remarks and hurt by the attack on Haredi Jewry, but no he only writes what a kiddush hashem Rabbi sacks made and how the speech brought him to tears! that's because he agrees with what was said.

That's a first a Modern Orthodox Rabbi who wears a Shtreimel!

Why in the world would anyone feel any need to explain to YOU (of all people) what the approach is or why you're even wrong about several things.

Oh.. I get it, because you have a blog that discusses pedophilia and the like.. that makes your news opinions into those of such an important expert that all the rabbis should feel compelled to explain themselves to you. Right?

Don't overrate yourself kid..

  2. Reb Zev, I could not disagree with you more. R' Yakov is a hero. Consider yourself lucky that one of nyou own children has not bee molested sexually...

Not only because of the devastation your child, you, and the rest of your family would suffer, but the ordeal you would face by the esteeemed Roshei Yeshiva who would call you a Moser if you reported it to the police and harrass you and your family until you were forced to leave town.

    1. Harry you missed the point. Yanky Horowitz hides behind his being an advocate for victims of abuse and then goes on to bash Charedim and gedolim who dont agree with his shitos.

    2. The future of our charedi community is quite literally in existential danger as the tension plays itself out in the international media.

The greatest danger is that we will be losing our souls should we fail to condemn the horrific actions, however isolated, of people like "Rabbi" Yakov Horowitz and Nouchem Rosenberg who dress like Hareidim threatening OUR GEDOLEI YISROEL included with violence, taunting them, and calling them all sorts of horrible names. And we will justifiably lose the hearts, neshamos and even lives of our children and grandchildren if we, rachmanim b’nei rachmanim (merciful people), cannot muster the righteous indignation and join forces to protest the appalling actions of these so-called "Activist".

    3. Dear Harry,

Don't Fall Victim to a Con! Yakov Horowitz will use greed, sympathy or fear to con well meaning folks like you.
Yakov Horrowitz a "Modern Orthodox" who happens to wear a Streimel and hides under Rav Pam pushing his agenda to destroy Hareidim with different tactics of mocking our Gedolim, Rabbanim working hard at spewing his hate spreading his filth in the name of "child safety" unfortunately undermining the cause!

Lost in the brouhaha is the resigned acceptance of the abusive and violent behavior of Yakov Horrowitz – rather than calling for these Acivists who are rodfim in every way be stopped in their tracks.

    5. Rabbi Warshavsky,
Before you call Harry Marlyles "dear," you should know that on his blog, where name calling is ostensibly prohibited, he called you a "piece of garbage!" I just thought that you'd like to know. Here's the quote, so you can see it in context:

The Agudah has distanced itself from Yanky Horowitz. his only fans are in the MO crowd. Those who really know him have other things to say.

Except that they haven't. Rabbi Horowitz is still a sought after speaker in Agudah type venues. That piece of garbage that you linked to is the one who has distanced himself from the Agudah!

  6. All I can say is oy vey. To actually defend the "gdolim" is a travesty of epic proportions. And you know it.
The "gdolim", sadly, have not done their job. All played possum for 50 years. One, in particular, continues to insist that Yudy Kolko is not guilty. Sure could have fooled me! He pled guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in open court. Not guilty?
Child abuse has been going on for 5 DECADES and it took brave bloggers like Shmarya, UOJ and Harry to take it to the streets and the web. Then pressure was applied on the DA and finally, finally, after 50 years of incompetence, ineptitude, unconcern, impotence and unwillingness to acknowledge the depth of the problem, finally, finally, Baltimore rabbis admitted they had no idea, they were in over their heads, they can't do a proper investigation, one should go to the proper authorities, etc. But the gdolim? Not a peep!
The neviim of old would eat them up and spit them out, that's how much respect they'd have for men who run communities who villify victims and revictimize them all over again, as was recently done in Lakewood and Williamsburg. For shame, charedim! Shame on all of you! How can you escape the fires of hell?

    1. Shmuel, Sanhedrin 99b–100a Different Amoraim apply the term APIKOROS variously to: one who insults a scholar;one who insults his neighbor in the presence of a scholar;one who acts impudently toward the Torah;one who gibes and says "what use are the rabbis to us, they study for their own benefit;"
      or
      "what use are the rabbis since they never permitted us the raven nor forbade us the dove" (i.e., who cannot go beyond the dictates of the Torah);

Maimonides gives a more precise theological definition of the word. Distinguishing the Apikoros from the sectarian (min), the disbeliever, and the apostate, he defines him as one who either denies prophecy, and therefore the possibility of communion between God and man, or denies divine revelation ("who denies the prophecy of Moses"), or who says that God has no knowledge of the deeds of man (Maim., Yad, Teshuvah 3:8).

Later authorities extended the meaning even further to include all those who refuse obedience to the rabbis, even "the authority of a religious work, great or small"
(Moses Ḥagiz, Leket ha-Kemaḥ YD 103a).

      Delete
    2. So the rabbonim have defined "apikores" as "someone who doesn't respect and obey the rabbonim." No conflict of interest there, right?

Anyway, you didn't actually respond to shmuel. You just tried to insult him by calling him and apikores.

      Delete
    3. It seems you may have missed this Rambam:

Rambam in his commentary on the Mishneh in Avos (2:14) writes: "the idea of answering the "Apikoros" applies only to non-Jewish apikoros, but a Jewish apikoros is so much worse in terms of disparaging and disgracing (the Torah), that it is not appropriate to argue with him at all, since he is beyond repair and beyond healing"

The source of the Rambam is the gemara in Sanhedrin 38b. But, see Rashi there

כל שכן דפקר טפי. שהרי הכיר וכפר ומתוך כך מדקדק ולא תוכל להשיבו דבר המקובל לו

    What reason is that?

  8. As someone who knows Rabbi Horowitz personally, I am shocked that you have attacked him like this - in the aseres yemei teshuvah no less!

I don't know most "Gedolim" well but I was wondering if there was some election process I was unaware of for the title of "Gadol". Because if there is, is like to nominate Rav Yakov as one. Personally (and I don't mean to detract one iota from the greatness of others), I view him as the GADOL HADOR precisely because of him taking on the establishment to protect the weak. Please check your Torah. I believe that there are many Mitzvos related to helping the downtrodden - that is what a true Gadol does.

  9. As a proud Modern Orthodox Jew I welcome Rabbi Horowitz with open arms and thank you for associating him with us. We Orthodox Jews need more courageous leaders like him willing to call out the wrongs whether they are done by so called gedolim or common ketonim. We are truly a dor yasom if Rabbi Kotler and Rabbi Belsky are the "leaders" we are supposed to be looking up to. Gone are the good old days of true gadlus like Rav Pam.

  10. Throughout the ages, the enemies of Klal Yisroel from without and oppressors from within have attempted to coerce us into following their practices and ways, whether by adapting to a gentile lifestyle or embracing the accursed Haskala philosophy. They have tried to misinterpret our Torah and to impose their laws and mores into the structure of pure Torah. Only through our leaders' adamant staying power and determination, and their fortifying the walls of Torah with a deep sense of responsibility for the future in preserving the ancient, generations-old tradition, and the guidance and direction of our Torah leadership — were our people able to survive the difficult times. They have even succeeding in entrenching themselves ever deeper in Torah, expanding the borders of kedusha everywhere, especially in Eretz Yisroel, following the devastation of the Torah and yeshiva world during the Holocaust, when our people were threatened with genocide and total eradication. Their survival was only due to their unyielding, uncompromising stand to pursue the path of our fathers and masters, generation after generation, in the face all of our persecutors.

  11. It took a while but B"H the Agudah has dissociated itself from Yankee Horowitz. Project YES is no longer part of Agudah!
Agudah realized Yankee Horowitz moved to the left.
His fame came from a speech at the agudah convention, agudah wanted to show they are helping kids at risk at the time
YH promoted his career on it. than he ran to the MO crowd portraying himself as the couragous charedi Rabbi standing up to the establishment

  13. A fraudulent enterprise of Apikorsim in the name of "Activist" run by harassers and defamers of many good people including Gedolei Hador, posting many fraudulent stories for personal gain. Yakov Horowitz and his body Nachum Rozenberg + their cronies exist solely to promote themselves!

Quite simply, if you don't do or say what Yakov Horowitz and his cronies wants you to do or say they will threaten to destroy your reputation online, and they will use their fraudulent "cause" and whatever other tools they have, or can find, at their disposal.

Unfortunately Yakov Horowitz is undermining such an important cause by spreading his filth in the name of "child safety"!

  14. All of you defending this "great man rabbi" Horowitz take note that anyone who is against rabbi Horowitz and his colleague Nuchem Rosenberg IS more concerned for the safety and well being for kids than this two activists.

Rabbi Horowitz's friend N Rosenberg destroyed dozens if not hundreds of families by spreading false rumors on fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and just about on anyone who he dislikes.

People who are child abusers are very sick who need real help.Rabbi Horowitz solution:prison. If a person gets a very harsh prison sentence he will go publicly explain why that person deserves such a harsh sentence.Lets remember yes these abusers are sick and need help.Shipping them off to prison: WE are yidden and it needs a real rav to say whom we are allowed to call the police and on whom not.

Horowitz believes in running to the secular media washing our dirty laundry in public creating a chilul hashem.
Rav Pam Zt'l whom Yankel keeps on quoting would of said of him the same what Rabbi Aharon Feldman said of Dov Lipman.
Im glad this blog stands up against the actions of Horowitz and Rosenberg

  18. As a proud Chareidi Jew, I am appalled by this blog and the Loshon Horah being spoken about Rabbi Horowitz during the Aseres Yemei Teshuva by a coward who hides behind the fake name of "Rabbi" Zev Warshavsky.

The fact that you put up posts by Chatzel Bennet to make yourself and your blog appear to be sanctioned by and have the Haskoman of Agudas Yisroel, just means that you're a wolf in sheep's clothing. The frum public should be extremely wary of frauds like you. I hope that Agudas Yisroel figures out a way to distance themselves from detritus like you and shuts you down.

"Halevi" you should come up to the Kisei Hakovod with the Ze'chusim that Rabbi Horowitz has from helping the hundreds/thousands of children and families he has dealt with in his years in Chinuch and with Project YES. The Gedolei Yisroel who you claim to revere, ALL come to him when they don't know what to do with the families who, Rachmanh Litzlon, have children at-risk or children who may have been abused.

But you don't have to believe me. You can call up the members of the Moetzes and ask them yourself. And then you can crawl back into the hole you crawled out of.

recently launched initiatives designed to help keep each and every one of our children safe and secure. With the chesed of Hashem, his efforts, and the efforts of the Roseh Yeshivos, Mechanchim and others like it, are creating a paradigm shift in how parents deal with the issue of these "Apikorsim" in the name of "Activist".

Rabbi Warshavsky's "Activist Abuse Prevention Program" is truly effective.

The Gedolei Yisroel who he claim to revere, ALL work with him now coming to grips with the painful reality that Bizoyon Kevod Hatorah, and the ravages it leaves in its wake, realizing that there is communal abuse as well, from which we all continue to suffer. And we must make sure that these Acivists who are "Rodfim" in every way be stopped in their tracks.

THERE IS A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KIDS THAT HAVE BEEN ABUSED AND KIDS THAT R'L HAVE BAD DISEASES. 1ST OF ALL B'H THERE ARE MANY INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP SICK KIDS.THERE ARE VERY FEW THAT HELP MOLESTED KIDS. #2 SICKNESS COMES FROM YAD HASHEM WHEREAS MOLESTATION COMES FROM HUMANS AND MOST OF THE TIME FROM PEOPLE THAT KIDS HAVE TRUST IN AND ADMIRE.

  25. Rabbi Zev your likely a child molester. That's why the idea of someone standing up for the children who are the most vulnerable and have been quieted for far too long is so abbhorent to you. He hates chareidim? Your ridiculous. Way to overgeneralize and exaggerate to the millionth degree! He hates when chareidim, or anybody, take the bautiful words and wisdom of the Torah and misdirects and misinterprets it to allow for the covering up of criminals, crying "Informant!" when justice is served. You think thats what Hashem wants? For the abuse of children to continue in the way that it has in the past? For those responsible for these sickening acts to get away with it, without any punishment in Olam Hazeh? You think Hashem has anything but the highest seat in Olam Habah reserved for someone, like R' Yaakov, who is responsible for the prevention of child sexual abuse in our community? If you answer yes to any of those questions, you are simply not frum. I dont care what you wear or how hard you pray. Its clear from the amount of loshon hora you are so okay with circulating over the internet, no less in aseres yemei teshuva, that you could not care less about Loshon Hora, Sinas Chinam, and Chillul Hashem, so to me this is unsurprising. You should be ashamed of the way you are trying to get in the way of someone who is trying to do such genuine good for our littlest, purest, and most innocent neshomos.

    1. Its about time these self serving activists are exposed, by attaching themselves to the molestation issue they put anyone who challenges them as a protector of molesters.

  27. Yankee Horowitz did not get recognition from the charedi establishment they know him too well, his only support comes from the zamodern orthodox who he panders to their ideology and hashkafa. by portraying himself as a chossid that wears a shtreimel he gives an impression as a charedi rabbi who is couragous and standing up for victims of abuse. You would think hes the only one standing up for the victims no one else not other askanim not Rebbeinm or Roshei Yeshiva did or are doing anything about it. That couldnt be further from the truth= Only advantage Horowitz has is hes got a lot of time on his hands... he can tweet and blog all day
